Job summary

Mesquite ISD is seeking an Auxiliary - Custodial staff member to perform routine cleaning and maintenance across school facilities. The role requires adherence to safety standards and efficient building operations to provide a safe, clean learning environment.

Responsibilities include opening/closing the building, maintaining schedules, inventory management, and assisting visitors. This is a full-time, non-exempt position with a shift type of Full-Time and reports to the Custodial Supervisor.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and understand instructions for cleaning, maintenance, and safety procedures.
• Dependability and punctuality required.
• Excellent communication with school personnel and public.
• Able to follow safety procedures and operate cleaning equipment.

Responsibilities

• Plan work schedule according to direction of building administration.
• Maintain a program of preventive maintenance to ensure safety and cleanliness.
• Open and close the building each school day.
• Establish procedures for locking, checking, and safeguarding facilities.
• Develop and maintain a cleaning schedule for floors, chalkboards, wastebaskets, windows, furniture, equipment, and restrooms.
• Keep the building and surrounding grounds neat and orderly.
• Observe and report safety hazards to supervisor.
• Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment; order as needed.
• Move furniture or equipment as directed by the principal.
• Follow all safety codes and standards.
• Assist visitors with directions and setup as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
