Job summary

ABM Industries is seeking a reliable School Custodian to perform general cleaning duties in K-12 and higher education campus environments. The role supports classrooms, hallways, restrooms, and common areas, ensuring clean, safe spaces for students and staff.

Responsibilities include sweeping, mopping, trash removal, and adherence to safety and cleaning procedures. Prior customer service experience is preferred, with on-the-job training available, and ABM emphasizes its veteran-friendly culture.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• No experience required and on the job training provided.
• No high school diploma, GED or college degree required.
• Prior customer service experience (preferred).
• One year of prior similar work experience (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain assigned area, including classrooms, hallways, restrooms, locker rooms, offices, and stairs.
• Sweep, remove debris, clean spills, and mop floors in designated areas.
• Regularly check trash receptacles and empty as needed in all designated areas.
• Follow procedures for use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to protect floors and fixtures.
• Notify lead cleaner or manager about repairs or additions to building operating systems.
• Establish and maintain effective communication with clients, co-workers, and supervisors.
• Collect, consolidate, and separate recycling into proper receptacles.
• Clean and dust desks, chairs, tables, furniture, fixtures, doors, sills, floors, ceilings, and walls.
• Polish hard surfaces such as woodwork and stainless steel.
• Wipe and clean tabletops, chairs, and equipment in food areas.
• Move cabinets, boxes, furniture, crates and equipment to cleaning areas as needed.
• Clean interior partition glass, windows, and mirrors with appropriate cleaners.
