Job summary

Burlington School District is seeking an energetic Custodial Staff member for the 1st shift. This non-exempt hourly role reports to the Director of Property Services and is part of the AFSCME union under the Property Services master agreement.

The position maintains a clean and safe environment for students and staff, handles classroom setup, and supports sanitation standards across buildings.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Demonstrated aptitude to meet responsibilities outlined above.
• Ability to read and write at an acceptable level.

Responsibilities

• Sweeps and/or dust mops classrooms and corridors daily.
• Replenishes classroom and restroom supplies for daily use.
• Maintains lavatories in a clean and sanitary condition; cleans floors, walls, and fixtures.
• Washes windows, inside and out.
• Dusts school furniture and flat surfaces.
• Brushes up and changes light bulbs as needed.
• Keeps floors clean and in good condition.
• Cleans chalkboards and sweeps walkways.
• Participates in snow removal as directed.
• Performs minor maintenance on custodial equipment.
