The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, proper attire, and adherence to Colorado DOT requirements, including a background check and fingerprinting. Physical stamina is essential for extended standing and movement outdoors.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Wear clothing as specified (light colored slacks/shirts and safety vest).
• Must meet Colorado DOT minimum qualifications (health, vision, alertness, STOP paddle control, communication, awareness).
• Criminal background check and fingerprinting required for hire.

Responsibilities

• Direct or escort pedestrians across streets, stopping traffic as necessary.
• Monitor traffic flow to identify safe gaps for crossing.
• Communicate traffic rules to students and adults.
• Distribute traffic signs and markers at designated points.
• Direct traffic movement and warn of hazards using signs, flags, or hand signals.
• Record incidents and report to the principal.
