Job summary

Peoria Unified School District in Glendale, AZ seeks a Crossing Guard at Desert Palms Elementary to escort students safely across local streets before and after school. This on-site role supports student safety and basic school operations.

Responsibilities include signaling crosswalks, monitoring traffic and activities, and coordinating with staff and parents. Applicants should be able to stand for extended periods in varying weather and complete required safety training.

Qualifications

• Must complete Video Safety Training Class for Crossing Guards or an equivalent qualification.
• Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card may be required.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and lift up to 30 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Places and removes school crossing signs at designated street locations to notify motorists of school pedestrian crossing.
• Monitors student behavior and the environment to maintain a safe path of travel for students.
• Directs on-coming traffic in order to safely escort students and their parents/guardians across the street.
• Operates a two-way radio to contact the police regarding speeders or suspicious activity.
• May assist with playground, classroom and cafeteria monitoring.
• May perform a variety of clerical or receptionist office duties.
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.
