Job description

Employees in this classification will be stationed at a designated school crossing during the time periods of approximately 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. when school is in session. While on duty, the school crossing guard will wear a designated regulation vest and assist pedestrians crossing a street or highway to and from school, stopping vehicular traffic when necessary with a hand-held STOP sign. This employee will, under the training and supervision of the Livonia Police Traffic Bureau, work with school Safety Patrol members.

Applicants Must:
  1. Be a citizen of the United States, or a resident alien with the right to work in the United States, and
  2. Be 18 years of age or older; and
  3. Have a high school diploma or a valid equivalency certificate; and
  4. Have acceptable hearing and visual acuity. Previous employment with public contact is highly desirable.
