Responsibilities

• Collaborate on the development and management of the school counseling program with the Student Health & Wellness Team, school administration, and Head of School
• Contribute to ongoing review and development of the academic course catalog and advisement program
• Communicate and share the goals and program services with stakeholders including students, faculty, staff, and parents
• Develop and revise annually a written plan for effective delivery of the school counseling program
• Plans, coordinates, and provides classroom guidance lessons reflecting divisional goals and program data
• Assists students in developing or improving academic and personal/social skills

School Counselor Responsibilities

• Identifies, collects, and uses data to develop and inform the school counseling program’s design and implementation, and to evaluate stakeholder impact.
• Collaborates on the development and management of the school counseling program with the Student Health & Wellness Team, school administration, and Head of School. Serves on the Upper School Leadership Team, contributing to broader planning and decisions within the Upper School.
• Contributes to the ongoing review and development of existing academic course catalog and academic advisement program.
• Communicates and shares the goals and program services of the comprehensive school counseling program with stakeholders including students, faculty & staff, and parents.
• Develops and revises annually a written plan for the effective delivery of the school counseling program.
• Plans, coordinates, and provides classroom guidance lessons reflective of the divisional goals and program evaluation data.
• Assists students in developing or improving academic and personal / social skills that
• promote a positive school experience.

School Counselor Requirements

• A master’s degree with a minimum of three years of school counseling; an advanced degree in a related field is preferred but not required.
• LCSW, LMFT, or similar licensure.
• Some clinical experience in a mental health or school setting is preferred.
• Ability to engage and diffuse crisis situations.
• An ability to thrive in a dynamic environment and a capacity to remain calm, focused, and solution-oriented when faced with unexpected challenges.
• Ability to work effectively with adolescents, families, and professionals.
• An ability to actively engage students in their own learning and social and emotional development.
• Strong written and oral communication skills, including an acumen for participating in sensitive conversations.
