Job summary

Amergis Healthcare Staffing is seeking a School Counselor to support K–12 students in Stafford, VA. The role enhances academic, social-emotional, and career development through collaboration with administrators, teachers, families, and community partners to promote well-being and equitable educational access.

This contract full-time position provides 35 hours weekly at $42 per hour, with benefits eligibility and adherence to FERPA/HIPAA confidentiality and professional standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; Master’s in School Counseling preferred.
• Valid state-issued School Counselor certification/license per state requirements.
• Experience working with K–12 students in educational, counseling, or youth-support settings.
• Knowledge of child development, counseling techniques, and school-based intervention strategies.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with FERPA/HIPAA requirements.

Location: Stafford, VA

The K–12 School Counselor supports the academic,social-emotional, and career development of students across elementary, middle,or high school settings. The SchoolCounselor works collaboratively with school administrators, teachers, families,and community partners to promote student well-being, remove barriers tolearning, and ensure equitable access to educational opportunities. Counselors provide direct and indirectservices aligned with a comprehensive school counseling program and adhere toethical and professional standards of practice.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in SchoolCounseling or closely related Counseling field preferred
• Valid state-issued School Counselor certification/licensebased on state requirements.
• Experience working with K–12 students in educational,counseling, or youth-support settings
• Knowledge of child development, counseling techniques, andschool-based intervention strategies
• Ability to work effectively with diverse populations andmaintain a student-centered, equity-focused approach
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizationalskills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with alllegal and ethical guidelines
• Complies with all relevant professional standards ofpractice
• Current CPR if applicable
• TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
• Current Health certificate (per contract or stateregulation)
• Ability to comply with student confidentiality (FERPA) andHIPAA requirements
• Must be at least 18 years of age
