Job summary

Sweet Home Central School District in New York seeks a dedicated school counselor to support diverse learners in grades 9–12. You will provide academic, social-emotional, and college/career counseling, manage scheduling, and collaborate with families and staff to promote student well-being.

You will implement a comprehensive counseling program, coordinate college readiness activities, review transcripts, and guide students through scholarships and applications.

Qualifications

• NYSED certification in School Counseling.
• Master's degree in Counseling or a related field.
• Experience with high-school counseling and college/career readiness preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide academic, social-emotional, and college/career counseling to students in grades 9–12, both individually and in groups.
• Oversee and support the scheduling process, including student course requests, schedule changes, and collaboration with building and district staff to ensure accurate and efficient scheduling.
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and families to develop and monitor student support plans that promote success and well-being.
• Implement and support a comprehensive school counseling program.
• Facilitate crisis intervention, conflict resolution, and responsive services to address student needs promptly and effectively.
• Coordinate college and career readiness activities, including course planning, transcript reviews, college application support, and scholarship opportunities.
• Analyze student data to identify trends, inform decision-making, and develop targeted interventions that improve student outcomes; and
• Other duties as assigned by the Principal.

Salary Range:

With a Master's degree $52,100 - $116,209 (Master's Steps 1-22); With a Bachelor's degree $47,072 - $99,337 (Bachelor's Steps 1-22)

Candidates must possess NYSED certification in School Counseling
