Soliant Health is hiring a full-time, contracted School Counselor in Bennettsville, South Carolina for the 2026-2027 school year to support Pre-K–2. Interviews are currently being scheduled.

The role requires delivering a comprehensive counseling program, providing individual and small-group counseling, and guiding classroom lessons on social-emotional learning, self-regulation, and problem-solving. Qualifications

• Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
• Completion of an approved school counselor preparation program.
• South Carolina School Counselor certification, PK–12.

Responsibilities

• Provide a comprehensive school counseling program for Pre-K–Grade 2.
• Provide individual and small-group counseling for social, emotional, behavioral, academic, or adjustment concerns.
• Deliver developmentally appropriate classroom guidance on social-emotional learning, self-regulation, problem-solving, conflict resolution, and personal safety.
• Identify students needing additional support and coordinate appropriate interventions.
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, special education staff, interventionists, and other school personnel to support student success.
• Consult with parents/guardians regarding student needs, progress, behavior, and available resources.

Position Responsibilities

• Provide a comprehensive school counseling program that supports the academic, social-emotional, behavioral, and developmental needs of students in Pre-K through Grade 2.
• Provide individual and small-group counseling to students experiencing social, emotional, behavioral, academic, or adjustment concerns.
• Deliver developmentally appropriate classroom guidance lessons focused on social-emotional learning, self-regulation, problem-solving, conflict resolution, friendship skills, empathy, personal safety, and responsible decision-making.
• Identify students who may need additional academic, behavioral, social-emotional, or developmental support and coordinate appropriate interventions.
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, special education staff, interventionists, and other school personnel to develop strategies and interventions that support student success.
• Consult and communicate with parents and guardians regarding student needs, progress, behavior, and available school and community resources.
• Assist students in developing age-appropriate coping skills, emotional regulation strategies, communication skills, and positive relationships with peers and adults.
• Support students experiencing transitions, family changes, grief, loss, trauma, or other circumstances that may affect their ability to learn and participate successfully at school.
• Monitor student attendance, behavior, and academic concerns and participate in problem-solving and intervention processes as appropriate.
• Make referrals to school-based and community resources when students or families require additional services or support.
• Participate in student support meetings, parent conferences, intervention teams, and multidisciplinary meetings as needed.
• Maintain appropriate counseling documentation, student records, referrals, and other required records while protecting student confidentiality.
• Assist with crisis response, student safety concerns, and mandated reporting responsibilities in accordance with district and state requirements.
• Promote a safe, inclusive, supportive, and positive school environment for young children.
• Advocate for students' educational, social-emotional, developmental, and personal needs.
• Assist teachers and families in understanding children's developmental needs and implementing effective strategies for supporting student behavior and emotional well-being.
• Participate in professional development and remain current with best practices in elementary school counseling, early childhood development, social-emotional learning, and behavioral interventions.
• Contribute to a positive school culture by promoting kindness, respect, responsibility, inclusion, and positive relationships among students, staff, and families.
• Follow school district policies, South Carolina Department of Education requirements, and professional ethical standards related to school counseling.
