Job summary

Whitsons is seeking a School Cook to prepare fresh, nutritious meals for students on a Monday–Friday schedule with no nights or weekends. You will cook according to school menus, maintain a clean kitchen, and collaborate with the team to serve meals promptly while supporting dietary needs and safety procedures.

Required are a high school diploma and at least 1 year in food service; ServSafe is required or obtainable after hire.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; must complete Whitsons and government training as necessary.
• Minimum 1 year of professional culinary or food service experience; school nutrition experience preferred.
• ServSafe certification required or must obtain within defined timeframe; local food safety certification required in any jurisdiction of employment.
• Proficient in recipe procedures and cooking techniques; ability to read/understand recipes and safety requirements.

Responsibilities

• Cook and prepare a variety of school meals according to menus.
• Ensure food is safely cooked and presented with care; maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen.
• Work with team to serve meals in a timely, friendly manner.
• Support special dietary needs and safety procedures.
• Follow Whitsons policies, production standards, and schedules.
