Job summary

The Dracut Public Schools Food Service Department is seeking Substitute Cafeteria Workers to support daily meal operations in a school setting. This role includes food preparation, service, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring a positive dining experience for students and staff, all while following safety and nutrition guidelines.

Key duties include assisting with breakfast and lunch service, setting up dining areas, maintaining sanitary conditions, and safely operating kitchen equipment.

Qualifications

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach for a 3 hour shift.
• Experience in the food service industry preferred.
• Citizenship, residency or work visa required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation and service of breakfast and lunch meals.
• Serve food according to portion and nutrition guidelines.
• Set up and break down serving lines and dining areas.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the kitchen, equipment, and cafeteria.
• Follow proper food safety and handling procedures.
• Operate kitchen equipment safely (ovens, slicers, warmers, etc.).
• Restock food, supplies, and condiments as needed.
• Provide friendly and respectful customer service to students and staff.
• Assist with dishwashing and waste disposal.
• Support special events, catering, or school functions as needed.
• Follow directions from the Cook/Manager or Food Service Director/Assistant Director.
