Job summary

Forest Lakes El is seeking a School Way Café team member to prepare and serve meals for Volusia County Schools. The position requires a high school diploma or GED, ServSafe certification, and ability to work in a fast-paced school cafeteria environment.

The role involves food preparation, serving, inventory handling, and basic cash register operations. It offers a 4-hour shift, 9 months, and entails teamwork and adherence to safety standards.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED; reading and writing functionally adequate
• Successful completion of Foundations, Introduction to Volusia School Way Café and ServSafe Essentials during first year
• Satellite Delivery Only - valid Florida or state Driver’s License; must acquire Florida license within 30 days if not already held

Responsibilities

• Wash, peel and prepare fruits and vegetables and other foods with sanitation records
• Prepare and bake breads, pastries, desserts and maintain sanitation records
• Set up and serve food on cafeteria line; assist with luncheons and events
• Clean kitchen and dining areas; maintain storage and inventory sanitation
• Operate kitchen equipment safely and in a sanitary manner
• Work as part of a team with minimal supervision and assist with closing duties
• Operate computerized cash register and perform basic bookkeeping tasks
• Use basic math for recipe adjustments and reporting
• Communicate clearly with students and staff in a noisy environment
• Perform other duties as assigned by district office or Manager - School Way Café
