Job summary

SLA's school cafeteria is hiring a Food Service Worker to support daily operations: prepare and serve meals, maintain cleanliness, and assist coworkers to ensure smooth service for students and staff.

You will follow recipes and safety standards, help with inventory, and participate in school meal programs. Prior food service or cleaning experience preferred; background check required; candidates should enjoy working with children and be reliable.

Qualifications

• Previous food service or cleaning experience preferred.
• Must pass background check and fingerprint screening.
• Reliable transportation required.
• Enjoys working around children and being part of a school community.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve food according to recipes, production records, and safety standards
• Maintain a clean, safe kitchen and service area
• Stock serving lines, salad bars, and milk coolers
• Follow proper procedures for food storage, rotation, and sanitation
• Serve meals to students, staff, and visitors in a courteous manner
• Assist with putting away deliveries and organizing inventory
• Sweep, mop, and take out trash as needed
• Follow all local, state, federal, and company health regulations
• Step in to assist team members or cover shifts as needed
• Submit reports and meet deadlines as assigned
• Carry out any additional duties to support the kitchen team and school meal program
