Job summary

Pittsylvania County Schools Chatham High School in Chatham, Virginia is hiring a full-time Cafeteria Worker to support food service operations. The role involves portioning, food prep, line setup, temperature control, serving, and cleaning in a hot school kitchen.

Starting immediately, you will report to the Food Service Manager and work under the Classified Agreement with standard benefits. Prior TB test and Food Handlers Certification are required.

Qualifications

• Current TB test is required.
• Food Handlers Certification is required.
• Ability to read and communicate in English.
• Accurately count, weigh, and measure ingredients.
• Follow instructions and take initiative in tasks.
• Physical ability to walk, stand, and lift.</p>

Responsibilities

• Interact with staff, students, faculty, visitors, and coworkers in a pleasant, professional manner.
• Portion foods into appropriate quantities per recipe or instructions.
• Assist with food preparation using standard techniques.
• Wash pots, pans, and utensils; operate dish machine or sink.
• Set up serving line with menu items and serving utensils.
• Monitor food and beverage temperatures and report unsafe temps.
• Serve according to recipe portions; maintain serving area.
• Disassemble serving line and clean serving area.
• Discard or store leftovers properly; follow HACCP guidelines.
• Remove garbage and replace bags.
