Job summary

Clinton Public Schools Sumner Hill Junior High School in Clinton, Mississippi is seeking a dedicated Cafeteria Employee to perform food preparation, serving, cleaning, and related duties in a 9-month contract.

Under the Cafeteria Manager, the role requires punctual attendance, adherence to safety and sanitation standards, ability to lift up to 25 lbs, and a willingness to work in a school dining environment. High school diploma or GED is preferred, with background checks required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability and willingness to follow instructions, both written and oral.
• Willingness to work in any situation.
• Ability to work efficiently with continuous standing.
• Must pass a current criminal records background check and a current child abuse registry check.

Responsibilities

• Performs efficiently and to the best of his/her ability the duties assigned in relation to preparation of food, serving of food, cleaning of all areas of the kitchen, or other assigned duties in the time allotted.
• Attends training meeting as required.
• Reports to work at designated time and remain on the job until dismissed by the manager.
• Notifies manager at the earliest possible time when unable to work.
• Maintains pleasant working relations with fellow employees by showing consideration for other, patience, respect, self-control, and other desirable character traits.
• Maintains desirable relations between school and community.
• Follows all policies of the School Board and instructions of the manager relating to safety measures, sanitation practices, personal standards, work techniques, and methods of performing duties.
• Performs duties involved in the safe preparation and handling of food, cleaning and sanitizing of equipment and facilities, serving of food, cashiering, and record keeping.
• The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. as well as meet the physical demands of standing, bending, pushing, pulling, carrying and operating equipment.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the cafeteria manager.
• Regular in person attendance.
