Job summary

The Philadelphia School District is seeking a cafeteria assistant to assist in the preparation and service of food in district facilities. You will clean and maintain food preparation and service areas, cook entrees following standardized recipes, and operate a compliant POS system for lunchroom transactions.

Responsibilities include counting items, serving meals to students and staff, handling money, and ensuring health and sanitation standards are met.

Qualifications

• Education equivalent to 12th grade required.
• Two years of full-time, paid food services experience in a large-scale institutional environment such as a school district.

Responsibilities

• Count items prepared and served.
• Serve food to customers and collect payments.
• Operate a compliant POS and roster system.
• Wash pots, pans, and utensils; maintain kitchen area.
• Cook main entrees or other items following standardized recipes.
• Count and report daily sales; generate end-of-day reports from POS.
• Remove trash from kitchen and cafeteria.
• Prepare food on grill (e.g., hamburgers, hotdogs).
• Assemble sandwiches, slice meat, chop vegetables, and prepare salads and desserts.
