Job summary

The Cedar Rapids Community School District is seeking a part-time Food Service Cashier at Grant Elementary School. The role handles cashiering duties for breakfast and lunch, processes payments, and maintains student accounts with a focus on accuracy and customer service. Training on the district’s systems will be provided.

Hours are 8:00am–1:30pm (5.5 hours per day), with a nine-month schedule aligned to the school calendar. Summers off and no nights or weekends.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of school food service program, nutritional standards, and sanitation.
• Develop and maintain effective relationships to support a team atmosphere.
• Process strong communication skills and customer service.
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with point-of-sale systems.

Responsibilities

• Assume responsibility for the computerized cashiering system during breakfast and lunch verifying a reimbursable meal was served.
• Collect money and maintain customer accounts on the computer.
• Complete a daily worksheet and send it to the Food and Nutrition office.
• Prepare a bank deposit for messenger service.
• Perform general duties related to food service operations and balance opening/closing tasks.
