Job summary

Cedar Rapids Community School District Washington High School in Cedar Rapids, IA is seeking a Food Service Assistant to support daily lunch and breakfast service, assist with preparation, and ensure smooth operation of the cafeteria schedule.

Hours are 6:30am–1:30pm, a nine-month contract with summers off, and benefits in accordance with the work agreement. The role involves teamwork, proper sanitation, and communication with staff and students.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of school food service program, nutritional standards, and sanitation.
• Develop and maintain effective relationships to support a team.
• Strong communication and customer service abilities.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Perform general work connected with the operation of food service, including preparation and handling.
• Assist with cooking as necessary.
• Wash and dry pots, pans, trays, and silverware by approved methods; participate in serving quality food.
• Serve as POS for breakfast and lunch, verify a reimbursable meal served.
• Process daily tally counts for claim reimbursement.
• Other duties as assigned.
