Job summary

BRENHAM INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT in Brenham, TX is seeking a Substitute Bus Driver to ensure safe and orderly transportation of students on assigned routes. You will operate a school bus to transport students and approved personnel to and from schools or other designated locations.

The role is nonexempt with no assured hours and no benefits, offering an hourly rate of $21. Requires Texas CDL with Passenger and School Bus endorsements, plus state certification.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age.
• Ability to pass alcohol and drug test.
• Ability to complete required bus driver safety training.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Knowledge of student discipline procedure.
• Ability to manage student behavior.
• Ability to pass bus driver physical exam.
• Ability to operate bus safely.

Responsibilities

• Follow assigned route and adhere to established schedules.
• Drive bus to and from extracurricular activities.
• Check bus for mechanical defects and report necessary repairs.
• Report accidents, vehicle damage, and injuries with required reports.
• Maintain bus cleanliness and fuel checks before trips.
• Supervise students boarding and exiting the bus.
• Communicate with parents when needed and enforce safety rules.
