Job summary

Durham School Services in Portsmouth, OH is seeking a part-time Bus Assistant to support the driver in safely transporting students. You will help students board and exit the bus, monitor behavior, and keep the vehicle clean and orderly.

Responsibilities include assisting with restraints, reporting incidents, and attending safety trainings. A professional demeanor, strong communication, and ability to lift and assist students as needed are required.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old; for New York School Bus Assistants, at least 19 years old per state law.
• Must meet physical and medical requirements.
• Must satisfactorily complete and pass all training and attend safety meetings and in-service meetings.
• Ability to relate to and work well with children.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with entering or exiting the bus in a safe manner.
• Seat students safely using seat belts or restraints as needed.
• Monitor passengers to ensure safety regulations and conduct rules.
• Document and report any violations or conduct concerns to appropriate authority.
• Assist Driver in keeping the interior of the vehicle clean and presentable.
• Complete all required paperwork and submit to the appropriate department in a timely manner.
