Job summary

The School Bus Monitor ensures the safety and orderly conduct of students during transport to and from school, field trips, or other school activities. You assist the driver with supervision, behavior management, and securing students with special needs, while maintaining a safe bus environment.

You perform pre-trip and post-trip checks, respond to emergencies, and report issues to appropriate school staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience with children or in a school setting preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Must pass background checks and training (first aid, student management).

Responsibilities

• Assist students with boarding and exiting the bus safely.
• Maintain seating and follow safety rules during transit.
• Provide supervision for students with special needs.
• Report behavioral issues to school staff.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
• Respond to emergencies following proper procedures.
