Job summary

Atlanta Public Schools is seeking a School Bus Driver to operate district buses safely on regular and special routes, transporting students and authorized persons to and from school on time in various weather conditions. Extracurricular trips may be authorized by the system.

Minimum requirements include a High School Diploma or GED, Georgia Class C license, and CDL with P and S endorsements (testing within 6–8 weeks). SREP recertification and MVR checks apply; one year experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Must pass the driving test for a valid Class B CDL with Passenger and School Bus endorsements within 6–8 weeks of hiring.
• Maintain annual Safety Renewal Education Program (SREP) recertification.
• 1 year of work experience preferred.
• Seven-year motor vehicle report required; multiple major citations may exclude.

Responsibilities

• Transports passengers on scheduled routes and field trips in a safe and timely manner.
• Ensures safe loading and unloading of passengers during routine transport and emergencies.
• Attends unit meetings, trainings, and workshops to support job performance and compliance.
• Performs pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance with requirements.
• Reports safety concerns and incidents and completes required documentation.
• Communicates transportation information to school personnel and parents.
