Job summary

Goshen Central School District is seeking a School Bus Monitor to help provide safe conditions for bus passengers and assist with emergency evacuations under supervision. The role includes supervising seating, aiding students, and supporting safe crossing practices as needed.

Responsibilities also cover documenting behavior concerns, reinforcing conduct expectations, and, on a substitute basis, performing food service or custodial duties.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience working with children desirable.
• Ability to pass required background clearances.
• Good knowledge of school bus safety practices.
• Ability to lift and move students as necessary.

• May determine seating assignments to maintain order.
• May perform food service or custodial duties on a substitute basis.

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS

This position involves responsibility for assisting in providing and maintaining safe conditions for school buspassengers. The School Bus Monitor assists with the safe evacuation of the vehicle in emergency situations. Work isperformed under the general supervision of the Supervisor of Transportation. Related duties may be assigned as required.

TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES
