Job summary

LELAND SCHOOL DISTRICT is seeking a school bus driver to ensure safe, timely transportation for students to and from school and activities.

The role requires CDL endorsements, a clean driving record, and strong communication with students, parents, and staff. You will follow schedules, manage student safety on board, and perform pre- and post-trip inspections to maintain vehicle safety.

Qualifications

• Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with passenger and school bus endorsements.
• Clean driving record and ability to pass background checks.
• Strong communication skills to interact with students, parents, and school staff.
• Patience and attentiveness, especially with young passengers.
• Knowledge of safety protocols and emergency procedures.

Responsibilities

• Transport students safely to and from school, field trips, and extracurricular activities.
• Follow assigned routes and schedules, adjusting for traffic or weather conditions.
• Assist students boarding and exiting the bus, including those with special needs.
• Maintain discipline and order on the bus, ensuring a respectful and safe environment.
• Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections of the bus to ensure mechanical safety.
• Report incidents or mechanical issues to school administrators or transportation staff.
• Comply with traffic laws and school district policies at all times.
