Job summary

The Chillicothe City School District is seeking a dedicated Bus Driver to operate school transportation on assigned routes, ensuring student safety and compliance with district, state, and federal guidelines. Under supervision, you will report to the Transportation Supervisor and perform daily vehicle inspections.

Responsibilities include maintaining student discipline, communicating with families and school staff, and completing required forms.

Qualifications

• 12th grade completion and at least three years' licensed driving experience.
• Knowledge of applicable Ohio bus transportation laws.
• Ability to pass annual physical examination.
• Pass drug and alcohol testing as required by law.
• Clean driving record with specified moving violations limits.
• Valid Ohio CDL with School Bus endorsement.
• 21 years of age or older.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Willingness to work and good organizational skills.
• Good decision-making and listening abilities.
• Satisfactory work history and mental/visual endurance.

Responsibilities

• Operates a school bus on assigned routes to transport students.
• Conducts daily pre-trip inspections.
• Maintains proper bus fluids and safety equipment.
• Maintains student discipline per district guidelines.
• Communicates with students, parents, staff, and administrators.
• Reports bus malfunctions to supervisor or mechanic.
• Operates warning and hazard lights as required.
• Completes required forms and follows written instructions.
• Assists in emergency procedures and first aid as needed.
• Attends inservice and training programs.
