Job summary

London City School District is seeking a dedicated Bus Driver to provide safe, efficient transport for students in accordance with state rules and district policies.

You will perform pre-trip inspections, supervise students, and assist with disabilities while maintaining a courteous, professional demeanor. The role requires CDL with school bus endorsement, current certifications, and adherence to drug testing and background checks.

Qualifications

• Meets all mandated health requirements (e.g., a negative tuberculosis test).
• Attainment of legal age and qualification per Ohio state rules for school bus drivers.
• Completion of the Ohio Pre-Service School Bus Driver Training Program and in-service training requirements.
• Holds a current CDL with school bus endorsement.
• Holds a current bus driver's certificate issued by the superintendent.
• First-aid certificate desirable (American Red Cross).
• Subject to driving record checks (abstract).
• Criminal background check and periodic re-verification.
• Subject to pre-employment and ongoing random drug tests.
• Ability to physically manage students with disabilities.
• Ability to handle stressful traffic and weather conditions.
• Demonstrates maturity and ability to work with students and families.

Responsibilities

• Operates the bus according to motor vehicle laws and safety rules.
• Transports only authorized passengers to approved stops.
• Performs pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections.
• Supervises students on the bus during loading/unloading.
• Assists students with disabilities as needed and ensures wheelchairs are secured.
• Responds to emergencies and follows first aid policies as required.
• Maintains clean interior/exterior of the bus and reports safety concerns.
• Maintains safe and courteous behavior among students and staff.
