Job summary

The Liberty Local School District is seeking a dedicated Bus Driver to join our transportation team, ensuring safe and timely transport of students to and from school and activities while following all safety regulations and district policies.

The role requires performing pre-trip and post-trip inspections, maintaining a clean bus, assisting students including those with special needs, and communicating effectively with students, parents and staff.

Qualifications

• Valid CDL with a school bus endorsement or ability to obtain.
• Clean driving record with no serious traffic violations.
• Strong commitment to safety.
• Ability to manage and communicate effectively with children.
• Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Patience, adaptability, and a positive attitude.
• Previous experience in a school transportation setting is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate a school bus and transport students on designated routes, ensuring timely arrivals and departures.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the bus to ensure it is in safe operating condition.
• Maintain a clean and orderly bus environment.
• Enforce safety rules and regulations regarding student behavior on the bus.
• Assist students in boarding and exiting the bus, providing support to those with special needs.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school personnel, addressing questions or concerns as necessary.
• Complete required paperwork, including daily logs, incident reports, and maintenance reports.
• Participate in ongoing training programs to stay current with safety regulations and procedures.
• Follow all state and federal transportation laws and guidelines.
