Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Transport students in a timely manner to and from school and activities while following safety procedures and regulations.
• Operate and safely drive a school bus in various weather and traffic conditions for routes and events.
• Communicate bus rules, safety requirements, and behavior expectations to passengers.
• Communicate with students' parents to address inappropriate or unsafe behavior.
• Assist students boarding and unloading, including wheelchair users and adaptive equipment.
• Inspect buses daily for deficiencies and perform basic maintenance checks (fluids, tire pressure, cleanliness).
• Regulate heating, lighting, and ventilation for passenger comfort.
• Know and comply with applicable rules and laws; comply with DOT drug and alcohol testing.
• Submit records and reports to Transportation Department on time.
• Read maps and follow route/trip logs; operate a two-way radio; maintain clean operating conditions.
