Job summary

Catawba County Schools Bus Garage in Newton, North Carolina seeks a part-time bus driver to operate a school bus on assigned routes with an emphasis on safety and student discipline. The role requires pre/post-trip inspections and adherence to school transportation procedures.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma and a valid North Carolina CDL with school bus certification, along with the ability to maintain calm and orderly behavior among students during transport.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school and some experience driving large vehicles with some experience in transporting humans preferred; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.
• Must possess and maintain a valid North Carolina Class A or Class B Commercial Driver’s License with school bus certification.
• Strong knowledge of safety regulations and discipline on buses.

Responsibilities

• Operates the assigned school bus on the route(s) and schedule provided by the Zone Transportation Supervisor.
• Performs pre-trip and post-trip inspections and documents inspections as required by Transportation Department Operating Instructions.
• Maintains discipline of students and ensures safety of all passengers.
