Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Must meet WV Code 18-4-8c or hold a classification title.
• Must possess knowledge, skills and ability to perform duties of the position.

Responsibilities

• Becomes thoroughly familiar with West Virginia Transportation Regulations for school bus operators.
• Post a copy of Regulations for Pupils Transported in School Buses and a copy of the bus schedule on the bus.
• Pass the physical and driving tests required.
• Perform pre-trip inspections daily.
• Prepare and keep a list of students riding the bus.
• Discharge students at designated stops unless permission is granted.
• Allow unassigned students to board only with permission or parent note.
• Run on a regular schedule and report delays to the principal or supervisor.
• Maintain neat appearance; keep bus clean.
• Drive safely and follow emergency procedures as required.
