Job summary

Los Alamitos Unified School District is seeking a qualified School Bus Driver to transport students and staff on scheduled routes, ensuring safety and compliance with traffic laws. The driver may perform routine vehicle and district duties as needed.

Responsibilities include pre/post trip inspections, supervising pupil conduct, coordinating with dispatch, and maintaining accurate mileage and time records. Required CHP bus certificate, valid license, and First Aid certification are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED and a safe driving record.
• Valid California Class A or B driver’s license with passenger endorsement.
• Bus Driver Certificate issued by the CHP.
• Must pass First Aid test and maintain a medical examiner’s certificate.
• Maintain clear drug and alcohol screenings.

Responsibilities

• Drive a bus on designated routes according to a schedule.
• Escort students crossing streets and supervise boarding.
• Transport students and teachers safely and use safety equipment.
• Perform pre- and post-trip inspections and report mechanical issues.
• Maintain mileage, student counts, and driving time records; complete reports.
• Complete schedules for pickups and field trips.
• Operate a two-way radio and communicate with dispatch.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks as assigned.
