Job summary

UMOS, Inc. seeks a dedicated Transportation Associate to coordinate bus maintenance, conduct daily route inspections, and ensure child safety on all transports. The role includes reporting concerns, maintaining supplies, and collaborating with families and staff to support program operations.

Candidates should hold a CDL with passenger and school bus endorsements, be 21+, and able to work flexible hours. Bilingual Spanish/English is a plus; experience with children is preferred.

Qualifications

• Be at least 21 years old with CDL passenger and school bus endorsements.
• Ability to work irregular and/or flexible hours.
• Must be insurable under Department of Transportation regulations.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and a reliable car.
• Experience transporting young children preferred.
• Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and conduct maintenance of vehicles and perform inspections.
• Conduct daily walk around inspections and report issues.
• Maintain janitorial supplies inventory and hazardous materials info.
• Maintain attendance records for children transported and ensure accountability.
• Ensure child safety checks and proper securement of children on routes.
• Serve as liaison between families and program staff; report concerns.
• Complete required paperwork including expenditures and maintenance logs.
• Conduct monthly bus evacuation drills and report results.
• Keep center clean and sanitary; perform grounds maintenance.
• Inspect playground daily and document findings.
• Transport and supervise children and parents during meetings and field trips.
• Participate in disability training and recruitment activities.
• Provide support to other locations with travel; develop bus routes.
