Washington County Public Schools is seeking a School Bus Driver to transport students for a 10-month work year, approximately 6 hours per day. This role requires a valid CDL, clean driving record, and completion of pre-service instruction.

You will maintain pupil accountability, follow safety rules, and ensure timely, safe bus operations. The driver must be able to pass the MVA physical, adhere to schedules, and present a courteous, professional demeanor to all stakeholders.

Qualificações

• Meet all licensing requirements of the MVA for CDL.
• Meet COMAR l3A.06.07 requirements for School Bus Driver.
• Have not more than two points on the driving record and a satisfactory past driving record.
• Successfully completed the Maryland State Department of Education required pre-service instruction.
• Have no evidence of a criminal record which makes the individual unfit for employment as a school bus driver.
• Must be 21 years of age to operate a school bus.
• Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this position.
• Satisfactorily completes the requirements of the MVA physical examination for school bus drivers.
• Has the ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.

Responsabilidades

• Observe all mandatory safety regulations for school buses.
• Maintain discipline when students are on bus.
• Report undisciplined students to the proper authority.
• Keep assigned bus clean.
• Keep to assigned schedule.
• Perform a pre-trip inspection prior to each route, checking for mechanical defects.
• Perform a post-trip inspection following each route, checking for damage, students and belongings.
• Notify the proper authority in case of mechanical failure or lateness.
• Discharge students only at authorized stops.
• Exercise responsible leadership when on school trips.
• Transport only authorized students.
• Report all accidents immediately and complete required reports.
• Enforce rules and regulations for students riding the bus.
• Operate the bus within the WCPS School Bus Drivers Handbook guidelines.
• Present their assigned bus for bus inspection meeting all requirements as established by the Transportation Department.
• Use all safety equipment properly including driver’s seat belt and shoulder harness.
• Demonstrate courteous and professional demeanor to all stakeholders of WCPS.
• Perform other school bus related duties as may be assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED.
• Demonstrate an aptitude and competence for the position of School Bus Driver.
• Provide acceptable references as to one's ability to work with and supervise children.
