Job description

Incumbent will create and maintain a safe, positive learning environment to ensure the holistic development of each student and staff member through cultural, social, spiritual, physical and academic experience.

Incumbent will support the Bureau of Indian Education’s mission, which is to provide high quality education opportunities from early childhood through life while considering a tribe’s need for cultural and economic well-being. Refer to BIE Job Category Standards for additional qualification requirements and substitutions for education. Applicants must meet the qualification requirements contained in the BIE Job Category Standard.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is required.
• Must meet all applicable state and federal requirements for CDL and be able to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
• Knowledge of Federal, State, and local driving rules and safety requirements for passenger safety; understanding of vehicle height, weight, and width, loading/unloading schedules, routes, flagging and towing regulations, and other rules of the road.
• No DWI arrest or conviction within the past two years; no more than one DWI conviction in one’s lifetime.
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
• Professional Licenses required (CDL).

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to lift over 50 pounds and be in excellent physical condition.
• Good distance vision in both eyes; glasses permitted.
• Ability to read printed material without straining; good hand and foot coordination.
• Ability to hear conversational voice, with or without hearing aid.
• Must pass an annual physical examination as a condition of employment.
• May be required to wear personal protective equipment such as protective clothing, breathing apparatus, masks, etc.
• Work may involve cramped positions in engine compartments, exposure to dust, grease, noxious fumes, and weather conditions.
