Job summary

Edmonds School District is hiring School Bus Drivers in the Edmonds, Lynnwood, Woodway, Brier, and Mountlake Terrace area. No prior school bus driving experience is required, with training lasting 4–7 weeks at the training pay rate.

Enjoy a Monday–Friday schedule with holidays and school breaks off while serving a diverse student population. Responsibilities include transporting students, route planning, pre/post trip inspections, and maintaining order on buses.

Qualifications

  • At least 21 years old.
  • Valid Washington State driver's license.
  • Have at least five years of experience as a licensed driver of a passenger vehicle.
  • Good driving record.
  • Pass a background/fingerprint check; subject to random drug tests after hire.
  • Skills in written and verbal communication.
  • Willing to obtain a Commercial Driver's License - all necessary training will be provided by the School District.

Responsibilities

  • Be on-call for routes, starting as early as 5:00 a.m. (Hours vary greatly according to the assignment.)
  • Safely transport students to/from school and on field trips.
  • Drive large and small school buses with automatic transmission.
  • Read maps and follow directions/run sheets for routes.
  • Successful student behavior management.
  • Perform pre/post trip vehicle inspections.
  • Assist students in the loading and unloading process.
  • Clean and maintain school buses and fuel buses as required.
  • Maintain composure under pressure.
  • Update daily paperwork/records.

Position Information

We are currently hiring School Bus Drivers. No school bus driving experience required. All training, lasting approximately 4 to 7 weeks, will be provided at the training pay rate.   • All drivers, if hired upon successful completion of driver training, are hired as relief drivers and do not have access to paid holidays, paid vacation or personal leave.
  • Paid holidays available if hired in a regular driver position.
  • Drivers hired as substitute drivers will not qualify for benefits until they have worked at least 630 hours.

Compensation

2025-2026 Hourly Rate: $36.83 - $42.23 per hour

The Washington State Health Care Authority (HCA) provides access to health care services. Our benefits are provided to eligible positions through SEBB (School Employees Benefits Board). Eligibility for SEBB state health insurance coverage is determined by working 630 hours during the school year. Eligibility for a state retirement plan through the Department of Retirement Systems (DRS) is determined upon hire and is based on a variety of factors.
