Job summary

First Student is hiring part-time School Bus Drivers in Chester, CT. Competitive hourly pay with a $5,000 sign-on bonus for experienced licensed drivers and $3,000 for new/non-CDL drivers. You will transport students, supervise boarding, and follow safety standards, with guaranteed minimum hours and flexible AM/PM routes.

Training is provided to obtain the CDL, and there are opportunities for career advancement across locations in the U.S. and Canada.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years old or older.
• Holds a valid driver's license for at least 3 years.
• Willing to participate in CDL training to obtain required endorsements.
• DOT drug testing is mandatory for safety-sensitive positions.

Responsibilities

• Safely transporting students to and from school and activities.
• Supervising boarding and unloading at stops and assisting students as needed.
• Maintaining order on the bus to minimize distractions.
• Conducting pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
• Reporting mechanical issues promptly and keeping the bus clean.
• Observing traffic laws and company safety standards.
• Communicating with parents, school staff, and dispatch about delays or behavior.
• Demonstrating leadership and customer service skills.

Experienced drivers who currently hold the required School Bus (S), Passenger (P), endorsements and No Air Brake restrictions (L) may be eligible for the $5,000 sign-on bonus. Conditions apply.

As a Part-Time School Bus Driver, you will play a vital role in your community and the lives of students. You will start students' days with morning pickup before school and transport them safely back home in the afternoon. Additional hours for field trips and special event transportation may be available.

No CDL? No experience? No problem! We provide the training and guidance needed to help you earn your CDL and become a safe and professional First Student school bus driver.
