Job summary

Chicago Public Schools is seeking a Day to Day School Bus Aide to support student transportation at Central-42 West Madison Street. Under supervision, you assist students boarding and alighting buses, fasten seatbelts and safety equipment, and help maintain order to ensure a safe ride.

You will report incidents, complete routing forms, communicate with drivers, school staff, and guardians, and interact with diverse student populations with patience and empathy, exhibiting sound judgment daily.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Ability to work autonomously while exercising good judgment and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to operate safety equipment.
• Demonstrate patience and empathy in order to successfully interact with various student populations, parent/ guardians, and school administration.
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written.

Responsibilities

• Fastens and secures seatbelts, harnesses and other safety equipment, maintain order on the school bus to minimize driver distraction and create a safe environment.
• report any event, injury and/or misbehavior that may jeopardize the safe transport of a student to and from school to appropriate personnel, completes routing lists and related transportation forms for the purpose of communicating sequence of bus stops.
