Qualifications

  • Master's degree in an approved program for Speech Language Pathology.
  • Eligible or possess a Virginia Board of Audiology and Speech Language Pathology license.
  • A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct and indirect instructional support to students in a positive environment.
  • Modify the general education curriculum for students with disabilities based upon instructional techniques and technologies.
  • Plan and conduct activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and work time.
  • Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining an environment conducive to learning.
  • Meet with parents to discuss progress and determine priorities for children.
  • Confer with parents and professionals to develop individualized education programs (IEPs).
