Job summary

Vestavia Hills City Schools seeks a Registered Behavior Technician to provide direct behavior support to students and implement behavior intervention plans under supervision. The role requires maintaining RBT certification, collaborating with teachers, and ensuring accurate data collection for progress tracking.

The position emphasizes adherence to district policies, ongoing professional development, and active participation in IEP and crisis intervention processes where applicable.

Qualifications

• Registered Behavior Technician Credential required.
• Previous experience preferred.
• High school graduate or equivalent and basic skills competency.
• Adequate strength and dexterity for required tasks (lifting, stooping, bending).
• Ability to maintain good interpersonal relationships.
• Background clearance as required by Alabama statutes and State Board of Education regulations.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance.
• Works 1-on-1 with students utilizing Applied Behavior Analysis principles.
• Implements strategies in the student’s Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP).
• Prepares materials for individualized programs.
• Collaborates with regular and special education teachers across schools and classrooms.
• Provides direct behavior support to students in 1:1 and group settings.
• Implements and monitors student behavior plans and educational plans to support appropriate behaviors.
• Records quality behavioral data to monitor progress and reports progress or regression to the BCBA and case manager.
• Maintains RBT certification and participates in supervision sessions.
