Job summary

Vision To Learn is seeking a full-time Optometric Technician in Newark, NJ to support inside-lane eye exams and occasional mobile clinics. The role involves pre-testing children, assisting with frame fitting, and coordinating with licensed optometrists during school hours.

The candidate should have optometric experience if possible, a valid driver's license, and ability to pass background checks. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and EHR/EMR systems is preferred; bilingual ability is a plus.

Qualifications

• Optometric experience preferred.
• Valid driver’s license with clean record; familiarity with Newark area geography.
• Must pass company and CMS background checks and drug test.
• Experience using Microsoft Office – Outlook, Excel, Word; prior optometric EHR/EMR charting experience; ability to learn project management systems.
• Bilingual English/Spanish written/verbal communication skills a plus.

Responsibilities

• Oversee inside lane eye exams operation in school/community sites and potential mobile clinic transition.
• Oversee mobile/inside lane eye clinic operation and maintain professional standards.
• Pre-test children before seeing the optometrist; assist with pretesting tools.
• Assist patients with frame selections for proper fit and satisfaction.
• Conduct vision screenings using a Welch Allyn Spot Check Vision Screener.
• Prepare daily reports and meet deadlines; follow Vision To Learn protocols.
