Job summary

Mesa Public Schools seeks a qualified Occupational Therapist to deliver school-based therapeutic services to students in Mesa, AZ. The role requires Arizona OT licensure and an active IEP approach, with supervision of COTA and fieldwork students.

Qualifications

• Must have OT degree and current Arizona OT license
• Six to nine months of supervised clinical affiliations
• Knowledge of safety, medical and neurodevelopmental conditions in pediatrics
• Experience with IEPs and assistive technologies

Responsibilities

• Implements therapeutic activities addressing fine motor, visual motor, sensory motor, and visual perceptual areas per IEP
• Directly supervises COTA and Fieldwork students per state licensure
• Administers and writes assessments in fine motor, visual motor, sensory motor and visual perceptual areas
• Instructs students, teachers and families to support the student
• Consults with teachers and parents to develop plans (IEP) for services and/or recommendations
• Participates in meetings to ensure state standards and federal mandates are achieved
• Prepares progress notes, Medicaid billing, student activities, and IEP documentation
• Presents information to communicate progress and ensure adherence to internal controls
• Assesses need for adaptive equipment and environmental modifications
• Planning and conducting in-service activities in occupational therapy
• Attends meetings, workshops, and seminars to support school-based functions
• Gathers therapeutic equipment and designs specialized equipment as needed
