Job summary

Cumberland County Schools in Fayetteville, NC seeks a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to support health services for students. The role includes monitoring medical status during the school day and assisting with procedures as ordered by physicians.

Requirements include graduation from an accredited LPN program and NC Board of Nursing licensure, plus pediatrics experience and ability to assist with tracheostomy care. Salary is commensurate with full-time school nursing duties.

Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited LPN program.
Licensed by the NC Board of Nursing.
Experience in pediatrics.
Must assist children with medical procedures during the school day, including tracheostomy care.

Responsibilities

Monitors students’ medical status during the school day.
Enter medical information into EZ Ed Med.
Provides and/or assists with medical procedures as ordered by the Physician during the school day.
Observation of skin for bed sores.
Provides and assists students with personal care needs during the day.
Administers medication prescribed by a physician.
Notifies Health Services Director or Lead Nurse of changes in student’s health status.
Notifies Health Services Director or Lead Nurse of changes in individual caregiver’s health status.
Notifies Health Services Director or Lead Nurse when absences may occur to determine coverage for students.
Moves patients safely.
Monitors fluid and food intake and output.
Performs special procedures as directed.
