Job summary

Pediatric Developmental Services (PDS) is hiring a Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team in the school setting. The nurse will provide basic care for students, oversee medication administration, and educate staff on healthy habits while ensuring student safety.

Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor's in Nursing with eligibility for a School Nurse endorsement; pediatric mental health experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required.
• Endorsement as a School Nurse or eligibility as prescribed by the State Department of Education.
• Experience or training in pediatric mental health preferred.
• Ability to work independently with ethical standards.
• Demonstrates effective interpersonal and written communication.

SCHOOL NURSE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide basic care for students when they are injured ill, and manage chronic conditions.
• Oversee the school's medication administration program.
• Educate students and staff on healthy habits, such as hygiene and proper nutrition.
• Work with school staff to ensure the physical and emotional safety of the school community.

SCHOOL NURSE QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
• Has obtained or is eligible for an endorsement as a School Nurse as prescribed in the bylaws of the State Department of Education.
• Experience or specialized training in the field of pediatric mental health is preferred.
• Ability to work independently and maintain ethical and accountability standards.
• Demonstrates interpersonal skills, and communicates effectively and courteously both verbally and in writing.
• Has the ability to coordinate activities and work effectively with professional staff, support staff, parents, and representatives from agencies outside the school system.
