Job summary

Epworth Children's Home in Columbia, SC is seeking a licensed professional to provide individual, group, and family counseling to children, youth, and families facing grief, loss, trauma, and related challenges. You will collaborate with ECC school staff to support referrals and follow‑up on school‑based clients, and provide intake assessment, case management, referral, and intervention as needed.

The ideal candidate holds a master's degree in a human services field, with LPC/LMFT/LISW

Qualifications

• Master's degree in a Human Services Field.
• Proficient written and oral communication skills.
• LPC, LMFT, LISW-CP or LPC-A, LMSW, LMFT-A and under supervision required (a certification in school counseling does not meet this qualification).
• At least one year of counseling experience preferred.
• Background check including drug screen, employment physical, SLED, DSS Central Registry, and Sex Offenders Registry is required.
• Faith alignment with United Methodist Church is preferred.
• Understanding of treatment for children, adolescents, adults and families and ability to deliver evidence-based practice with fidelity.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain a sustainable caseload of school-based and office-based clients as assigned.
• Must conduct a minimum of ten sessions per week.
• Maintain the confidentiality of all client records and information; retain clients.
• Develop service plans and conduct reviews throughout the duration of treatment.
• Coordinate service delivery for school-based ECC clients.
• Complete intake/diagnostic assessments with corresponding diagnostics impressions showing medical necessity of services.
• Conduct counseling sessions that align with treatment goals.
• Follow up with clients after no-shows, cancellations, or rescheduled appointments.
• Track and communicate referral updates between school administration and the ECC.
• Support special education classes through observation, education, and input on behavior management interventions.
