Job summary

The New Mexico Department of Health, Population and Community Health Bureau’s Office of Oral Health is seeking a Dental Assistant to support school-based prevention programs and clinical activities with a Registered Dental Hygienist. The role involves evaluating children’s teeth, applying sealants or fluoride varnish, and managing health records in diverse settings.

Responsibilities include scheduling, maintaining supplies, and delivering oral health education to youth and adults.

Qualifications

• Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is required.
• Experience reporting metrics (data surveillance) preferred.
• Current CPR and OSHA certification is required.
• Experience delivering oral health education to individuals or groups.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Registered Dental Hygienist by evaluating children's teeth.
• Apply dental sealants or fluoride varnish and manage health records.
• Prepare materials for sealants/varnish and schedule/confirm clinic appointments.
• Maintain dental supplies in collaboration with the hygienist and train school children.
