Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Social Work or School Counselor; RI Ed certification preferred.
• Experience delivering clinical services in programs serving a special needs population.
• Experience collaborating with members of a clinical and educational team.
• Experience consulting on behavioral issues with school staff serving students with special needs.
• Ability to design and utilize Positive Behavioral Supports, Functional Behavior Analysis/Assessment, PBIS, Behavior Improvement Plans, and related strategies.
• Availability during after-school hours to meet with parents occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct clinical services, with supervision and support, for elementary students in a highly restrictive school environment.
• Participate in developing individualized behavioral programs for students with unique needs.
• Consult with parents, teachers and staff to determine causes and solutions.
• Provide individual and group counseling as needed.
• Maintain documentation and ongoing collaboration with outside parties.
• Recommend changes in educational/behavioral programs or treatments as needed.
• Participate in evaluation team and IEP meetings when scheduled.
• Serve as a liaison between RIAA and community resources such as family service agencies and doctors.
• Provide consultation in emergency situations for clinical staff.
• Assist families in transition planning for students aged 14 and over.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Clinical Director and/or School Social Worker.
