  • Completes assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries per standards.
  • Participates in MTSS referral process to coordinate student supports.
  • Promotes parent engagement in addressing social and emotional needs of students.
  • Maintains knowledge of community resources and access pathways.

Job description

SUMMARY:

The School-Based Clinical Therapist provides care coordination to students with behavioral health challenges, outpatient individual therapy to a small group of students best served in the school setting, and education on behavioral health topics to school personnel.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Serves as a resource to the school sites in the CCBHC catchment area by providing mental health consultation, referral, and care coordination to address student behavioral and/or emotional needs.
  • Meets with local school representatives to understand their needs and identify ways in which the therapist can best assist in supporting the behavioral health needs of the school community.
  • Fosters collaboration amongst School Districts and Community Partners by providing information, referrals, and linkages social service and mental health agencies to address student and family needs
  • Provides support and consultation for student threat/risk assessments, including conducting suicide risk assessments, participating on threat assessment teams, developing safety/re-entry plans, and providing referrals and linkages to resources, as needed.
  • Demonstrates understanding of child and adolescent development.
  • Maintains current knowledge of diagnostic and treatment strategies that are effective for specialized populations; uses and seeks out clinical information to improve competency in treating behavioral health problems in assigned population.
  • Provides outpatient individual, family, and group therapy using best practice treatment strategies effective for diagnostic needs of children and prescribed in individual treatment plan.
  • Completes assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries according to clinical standards and required timelines.
  • When requested, participates in the MTSS referral process to assist in coordinating student supports.
  • Promotes parent engagement in addressing the social and emotional needs of students.
  • Maintains comprehensive knowledge of and facilitates the development of policies and practices related to suicide prevention and intervention.
  • Follows-up with families and schools to ensure that student was connected to appropriate services; assists in establishing care coordination between the school and provider(s).
  • Maintains current knowledge of available community resources relevant to population and how to access them as needed.
  • Maintains frequent communication and collaborative relationships with client, colleagues, and community providers to ensure coordinated care.
  • Maintains performance standards according to professional competencies and fidelity to the evidence-based treatment models.
  • Tracks and assesses data on interventions used in school district to evaluate effectiveness of programs.
  • Attends supervision, agency and team meetings as scheduled.
  • Maintains detailed, accurate, and timely documentation in medical record.
  • Enhances professional expertise through educational activities and trainings.
  • Follows agency policies
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master’s degree in social work, counseling, or related field eligible for mental health licensure.
  • Associate-level mental health license (LCSW, LMHC-A, LMFT-A) with RI Department of Health or ability to obtain by time of hire.
  • At least 2-years of clinical experience working with targeted population or in a school or mental health setting preferred.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Strong verbal communication and social relationship skills.
  • Bilingual in Spanish/English strongly preferred.
  • Analytical skills necessary to evaluate clients’ mental health needs and to formulate and implement a treatment plan
  • Knowledge of human development and family systems issues. Advocacy and teaching skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and use of car in order to perform the major functions of the job.
  • Automobile liability insurance coverage for vehicle being used in accordance with Center requirements.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as a team to coordinate care for clients.
Pay Range:

$61,422.40-$101,337.60
