Job summary

BAYADA Home Health Care seeks a School-Based Behavior Technician to support children with Autism in Hawaii. The ideal candidate will either possess or pursue the Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) credential and work 1:1 with students in local school districts.

This role requires an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree, excellent interpersonal skills, and a commitment to helping students reach their potential. BAYADA offers professional training and extensive supervision as part of your role.

Qualifications

• Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) Certified or the desire to pursue certification.
• Be at least 18 years of age.
• Experience with children is a plus, but not required.

The RBT credential is a professional credential for paraprofessionals offered through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board® (BACB®). The RBT credential is required for individuals providing services on any Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) or insurance-based contracts in Hawaii. This position includes working 1:1 with children and young adults diagnosed with Autism in Hawaii Island School Districts. BAYADA will provide your training as well as provide extensive supervision.

Schedule

• Monday through Friday
• Most shifts are between 7:30am and 2:30pm
• Work in your neighborhood or commute for more hours

Qualifications for a School-Based Behavior Technician

• Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) Certified or the desire to pursue certification (Training provided by BAYADA)
• Be at least 18 years of age
• Experience working with children with developmental/intellectual disabilities is a plus, but not required
• An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree OR 48 college credits including Math 100 and English 100 OR passage of the ParaPro Praxis Assessment (BAYADA assistance available)

How You’ll Make an Impact

• Work directly with students in the classroom, following the established service plan
• Establish and maintain relationships with clients and school teams. Respect the values, thoughts, beliefs, and attitudes of clients and families
• Implement behavior therapy techniques and collaborate with teachers to support the student in the classroom environment
• Document interventions and progress towards goals
• Collect behavior data as specified in client behavior plan
• Provide training, instruction, and assistance to help the student acquire and maintain skills and meet identified goals
• Provide support to the client in interpersonal skills, development, and maintenance of personal relationships, and building independence in their school routine
• Supports school age children to succeed with Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).
