Job summary

Ampersand Therapy is hiring a full-time American Sign Language interpreter for a Douglas County, GA school setting. You will provide real-time ASL interpretation in classrooms and school activities to support deaf and hard-of-hearing students.

Qualifications

• ASL proficiency required
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to collaborate with teachers and staff
• Understanding of FERPA/confidentiality requirements
• Knowledge of Deaf culture and educational interpreting practices

Responsibilities

• Provide sign language interpreting services for students in classroom settings and school activities
• Interpret spoken language into ASL and ASL into spoken English in real time
• Support student understanding of instructional content while maintaining communication integrity
• Collaborate with teachers, SPED staff, and related service providers to support student success
• Assist in implementing IEPs as appropriate
• Maintain confidentiality per FERPA and district policies
• Adapt interpreting style to meet individual student needs
• Participate in meetings, professional development, and training
• Other duties as assigned
